Philosophy that means a pursuit of knowledge and wisdom is undoubtedly a high human activity that will never be abandoned to understand the meaning of human being and the meaning of the presence in the general sense and the truth is never to be stopped on the ride of truth. Although the philosophy is a general character in terms of questions that the answer is looking for, the answer to these questions is a subjective quality in the context. The basic feature of philosophy to gain students in this field is to be interested in the philosophy or philosophy of the universe and human. This is the primary goal of our department.
In line with this target, history of philosophy courses are taught both in general terms and in depth of some philosophers in the seminar style. Besides, the basic philosophical disciplines are also taught. As a classical language, Greek and Latin courses are compulsory; Arabic and Ottoman courses are elective courses.
According to this approach, the basic mission of our department is to view the world from a philosophical aspect, to interpret the individual existence and to display philosophical approach regarding the questions and problems related to that. The main vision of the department of philosophy is to be able to view the existential, cultural, economic and social problems of the age from a different perspective.
The graduates of the philosophy department can have the right to practice teaching profession, provided that they have Master’s without thesis. They also have the opportunity to work as a critic, an editor and a writer in other areas, mainly in media.
