Our Mission
Our main mission is to train graduates who are well-equipped in various fields such as Armenian language, literature, culture, history and cinema, have academic thinking and analysis skills, and are able to conduct interdisciplinary studies. Our education focuses on reading Armenian and developing effective writing, speaking, listening skills and critical thinking skills. Teaching the Armenian language and its unique features is to enable students to acquire knowledge through oral and written uses of grammatical structures and translation. In addition, theoretical courses are given so that students have the competence to read and understand Armenian sources and transfer this to the society.
Our vision
The aim of our department, which has a strategic importance that our country needs, is to train experts and academics who are well-versed in the Armenian language, culture and literature, as well as Armenian social and political history, and to employ these academics especially in our department. Our department also aims to train qualified and competent researchers and knowledgeable philologists with written and oral communication skills who will bring to light the Armenian archives in America and Yerevan about the Armenian issue, which has never been on the agenda. The Armenian Language and Culture Department, which was established in 2010 under the Erciyes University Faculty of Letters, Department of Eastern Languages and Literatures, is the first department established in our country at the undergraduate level. It started education in the 2010-2011 academic year with a total of 6 students, with 2 students in the beginning, then 4 people with additional quota. The first graduates were in the 2013-2014 academic year. The other graduates were in the 2016-2017 academic year. The language of education is 30% Armenian. Currently, 2 faculty members and 2 lecturers are working in the department. These lecturers are Assoc. Prof. Arina BERIDZE, Assoc. Prof. Gaffar MEHDIYEV, Lect. Asli ALIYEVA and Lect. Tariyel BABAYEV.
