(Program Qualifications)

Graduates of the Department will:


1. have information supported by textbooks and other resources containing information about the field, convey this information in writing and verbally by using the acquired information in the field,
 
2. be able to analyze a work of art based on its characteristics by means of art history research methods and techniques and be able to make connections and comments between different works of art by distinguishing the general characteristics of the period,
 
3. be able to be equidistant to cultures and values by believing in the universality of cultural heritage in the field of art history and be able to establish connections between civilizations and cultures of various geographies,
 
4. be able to read epigraphic and paleographic texts in different languages and to analyze them by doing interdisciplinary studies,
 
5. be able to gain scientific thinking skills by using the ways of accessing information,
 
6. be able to draw by using techniques such as plan, section, projection with a working system suitable for the structure of the land in field studies and to apply documentation, restitution and restoration methods related to the area,
 
7. be able to make a connection between the past and the present, to make inferences about the future based on the problems encountered today, and to constantly renew himself/herself in relation to lifelong learning,
 
8. be able to use Art History research methods and techniques, information and communication technologies and to follow the developments in the field by learning how to benefit from resources such as libraries, archives and the internet,
 
9. be able to apply the knowledge gained about the protection and restoration of cultural assets in line with contemporary requirements and to provide working discipline within the framework of relevant laws and regulations,
 
10. be able to know and apply the methods of revealing works of art and to exhibit them in public places such as museums and exhibitions,
 
11. be able to develop the ability to comprehend, adopt and apply social and cultural responsibilities,
 
12. be able to benefit from auxiliary disciplines and to comprehend interdisciplinary interaction,
 
13. be able to obtain information about the architecture, painting and sculpture of Eastern, Western, Contemporary, Turkish-Islamic Arts and also prehistoric times and to recognize the changing styles,
 
14. be able to obtain information on the main art history subjects such as ceramics, miniatures, calligraphy, tiles, metal works, painted decorations, coins and weavings such as carpets and rugs.
